NPR Music’s super cool Tiny Desk Contest occurs each year and this year ION WRAY MEDIA had the opportunity to film a live music video submission for band “The Seventeens” as they entered the contest. The song submission “Between You & Me” is a fantastic nostalgic trip down Highway 17 in California. The band’s lead singer Brinda Krishnan met the guitarist of the band, J. Hewins prior to the formation of the band. In order to see one another often they had to travel this very dangerous highway, thus forming their devotion and bond for one another. Brinda Krishnan and J. Hewins wrote “Between You & Me” as a sentimental yet punchy little song about love’s devotion incorporating a very intriguing backstory about the infamous Highway 17. The Scott Wray Media team is excited to help the band with this awesome live-performance-music-video submission for the contest!
Audio engineered at the amazing Sleeper’s Mountain Studios.

Our own Emily Joy crushed it as Creative Director utilizing ION WRAY MEDIA’s projection mapping background. Mapping highway footage upon written lyrics, typewriters and guitars, Emily & Wray were able to offer the live performance a cohesive backstory through layers of in-camera effects and visuals.
Musicians and bands should always take note of contests that request music video submissions. Sometimes just submitting a video can get your band 1000’s of views you would of otherwise missed.
